The 2016 Ford Explorer in Boston, MA

New Exterior Styling

With its redesigned front, rear, roofline and wheels, the 2016 Explorer will steal any scene.

The Explorer Platinum model shines with sharp satin chrome accents throughout the body, from the unique Platinum grille to the rear liftgate. There are a standard dual-panel moonroof up top and stunning 20-inch bright-faced wheels with dark tarnish painted pockets below. The standard, powerful 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 enables towing up to 5,000 pounds.

The Kind of Luxury You Can Really Get Into

The Explorer can carry up to seven passengers. The second row features a 60/40 split-fold-flat bench and available bucket seats and console, while the third row has a 50/50 split-folding seat with generous passenger space. Behind the third row, there are up to 21 cubic feet of cargo volume. For more cargo space, up to 81.7 cubic feet, fold the second and third rows for a flat load surface.

Available Hands-Free, Foot-Activated Liftgate

Never worry about carrying too much to the car again. Open or close the rear liftgate with a kick of your foot within the range of the rear bumper's sensors and with the key fob in your pocket or purse.

Learn More About the 2016 Ford Explorer

"The 2016 Explorer brings new looks, new technology, and new thinking to Ford's ubiquitous midsize SUV. The refreshed exterior borrows from Land Rover's styling, and the new interior brings more refinements and ease of use, especially for shorter buyers, or those put off by Ford's touch-sensitive control interfaces and earlier versions of MyFord Touch. A new Explorer Platinum model offers luxury features like a twin-turbocharged V6 engine, leather-wrapped instrument panel, and "Nirvana" leather on the seats (no, it's not embroidered with heart-shaped boxes). Not all the changes are at the top though. A new 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine offers more power and good fuel economy, and is now available with all-wheel drive. The Terrain Management System even gives this car-based crossover some off-road chops." - Review by KBB
